- MONDAY: THESSALONIKI-METEORA-THESSALONIKI (approx. 490 km / estimated duration 08.00-18.30)
Departure from the Hotel for Kalambaka. Arrival and visit the famous Meteora, which they were built in the 14th century, geological formations unique in their kind, on which the Monasteries are perched; they are rich in precious testimonies of Byzantine art. Free time for lunch. Return to Thessaloniki. Stop along the way in the beautiful Valley of Tembi.
- TUESDAY: THESSALONIKI CITY TOUR (approx. 30 km / estimated duration 09.15-13.00)
Meet us at the pickup point near to your hotel and begin the sightseeing tour of Thessaloniki You will have the opportunity to see the White Tower, the main landmark of the city, the Galerius Arch, the Rotunda monument, the Old Town (Ano Poli) and the City Walls, from where you will have a marvelous view of Thessaloniki! During your tour, there will be a short stop at Aghios Demetrius Byzantine church and its crypt, and you will also have the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum. Return to the nearest drop of point to your hotel.
- WEDNESDAY: THESSALONIKI-MOUNT ATHOS CRUISE-THESSALONIKI (approx. 290 km / estimated duration 08.00-18.30)
Departure to the charming village of Ouranoupoli in Chalkidiki and we shall embark for the cruise of Mount Athos. One can admire from the sea the beautiful monasteries, which transformed this area into a place of particular historical and cultural importance and enjoy a landscape of great natural beauty. Return to Ouranoupoli. Time at the disposal of the tourists for lunch and for a tour in the picturesque town. We continue to Stagira, the birthplace of the famous philosopher Aristoteles, and towards the traditional village of Arnea. Return to Thessaloniki.
- THURSDAY: THESSALONIKI-PELLA-EDESSA-VERGINA-THESSALONIKI (approx. 250 km / estimated duration 09.00-18.00)
Departure for the village of Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great, and visit of the archaeological site and of the museum. The excavations have brought to light the interesting findings of the ancient city and the pavements decorated with mosaics of rare finesse, exhibited at the local museum. We continue towards Edessa and stop for a visit of the park if the famous waterfalls. Departure to Vergina, the ancient capital of the Macedonian Kingdom, where nowadays is one of the most beautiful museums of Greece. Free time for lunch. Visit of the museum, which contains the royal tomb of King Phillip the 2nd, Alexander the Great’s father, along with golden and other artefacts of an incredible beauty and value. Return to Thessaloniki.
- FRIDAY: THESSALONIKI-AMFIPOLI-FILIPPI-KAVALA-THESSALONIKI (approx. 350 km / estimated duration 09.00-18.00)
Departure to the ancient town of Amfipoli, an important centre during the ancient period due to its strategic position. Visit of the archaeological site and then we continue to Filippi, an important archaeological site and a city founded by King Phillip the 2nd of Macedonia. It was here that Saint Paul founded his first Christian church in Europe. After the visit, departure to Kavala, a city rich in history, situated in a pleasant natural environment. Built over the ruins of the previous Byzantine fortress and surrounded by well-preserved walls, Kavala is considered to be the ‘’access door’’ of Christianity in Western Europe because Apostle Paul, following one vision, landed there to bring ‘’the good news’’. Visit of the city and return to Thessaloniki.
- FRIDAY: THESSALONIKI BY NIGHT (approx. 25 km / estimated duration 18.30-01.00)
We leave the hotel in the afternoon. After having a short tour in the city we will drive to the White Tower. From there we will sail on a ship in the Thermaic Gulf and have a short tour accompanied by a glass of aperitif or juice. During the tour you will enjoy marvelous sights of the evening city and the gulf. After the tour we will have a walk among the promenade and many cafes that are a place of rest and relaxation for many citizens of Thessaloniki. We finish our walk in a tavern in the traditional quarter of the city– Ladadika, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner accompanied by the sounds of Greek live music. You have a great opportunity to drink, dance and enjoy yourselves until early in the morning!
- SATURDAY: THESSALONIKI- DION-OLYMPOS-THESSALONIKI (approx. 200 km / estimated duration 09.00-16.00)
Departure to Dion, religious centre of the Ancient Macedonians dedicated to the worshipping of Olympian Zeus, situated at the footsteps of the famous Mount Olympus, the mythical home of the Gods. In Dion Alexander the Great offered rich sacrifices to the Gods before leaving into the legendary expedition to Asia. Visit of the archaeological site and of the museum. We continue to the traditional village of Litochoro. Free time for a tour of this picturesque village and for one walk in the valley of Enipea, on the low slopes of the mountain. Return to Thessaloniki.
- SATURDAY: THESSALONIKI-VERGINA-VERIA (approx. 170 km / estimated duration 09.00-14.00)
Departure for Vergina and visit of the museum, which contains the royal tomb of King Phillip the 2nd, Alexander the Great’s father, along with golden and other artefacts of an incredible beauty and value. Return to Thessaloniki. Following the Vergina Archaeological site visit, our bus will take us to a small hill nearby the city of Veria where local tradition believes that St. Paul has preached. A small shrine, known as the Altar of St. Paul was erected on this spot. Many religious ceremonies are still held at this Altar nowadays. Following the visit to the Altar we will return to the city of Thessaloniki.
